Welcome to the inaugural KC Homes 365 blog or The Hub as we call it. We plan to make this a frequent (as possible) outpouring of some of the things we feel may be of importance or are relevant to life and real estate in Johnson County and the metro Kansas City region.
We have good news to impart for this, our first venture into the blogosphere, as things are actually looking up for real estate locally. The positive news is being driven by a couple of early predictors; cars and unemployment.
Jobs and automobile purchases have always been early indicators (good or bad) of which way the economy is headed. As I write this, the unemployment rate in the metro is at 7.2 percent, which is a full point below the national rate and has been falling steadily since February according to the US Dept Department of Labor. This is good news.
Similarly, according to a June 1st report in the Wall Street Journal, new car sales are up in almost every category from compact to luxury (in some cases drastically) over 2011 YTD. If these things continue to trend in their current directions, it will have a very positive impact on home prices. Buyers, now may be one of the best times to buy in recent history. Interest rates are low and price increases have yet to hit the streets. Sellers anxious to move a property can take advantage of this climate also.
On a personal note here at The Strevell Team, we are growing again and find ourselves needing several more agents. If you know anybody that may be looking to for a great place to work, send them our way.
Our new Facebook brand page is also a good resource for information on what’s going on around here. With occasional postings about some pretty incredible properties and homes in and around our region, so stop in, give us a “like” and join the party. In fact, we are making a few changes to some of our traditions at KC Homes 365 this year (like where to get your pumpkin pie for instance!) and we will be announcing that on our Facebook page first, so like us to stay informed..
Please feel free to check back here from time to time to see what we’re up to here at The Hub, sign up for our email newsletter or leave a comment in the space provided below.
Until next time …
