For some couples, finding their dream home is love at first sight. For John and Sarah Armel, it was love at first step.
“After I took my first step into the house, I knew it was the one,” John says.
And to think now, one year later, the Armels almost opted out of visiting the spacious two-story, three-bedroom home in Overland Park. They had been house hunting for months with an agent/friend, and visited nearly 70 houses, before they reached out to our KC Homes 365 Team Leader and Broker Associate Scott Strevell.
Once Scott became familiar with the couple and caught a glimpse of the immaculate living space at 119th and Quivira, he said, “Trust me, you’ll want to look at this house.”
And trust him they did. Just as John’s family had done for years before him. You see, Scott has a bit of a history with the Armels.
“You know the phrase, ‘It runs in the family’?” John says. “Well, Scott sold the house for my great-grandmother when she went into a nursing home and bought and sold a house for my grandmother as well. He also sold my parent’s house in Mission—before it even went on the market.”
John remembers Scott driving him and his parents around in his car to look at different houses. Little did he know that years later he’d be in Scott’s car on the house hunt again, this time with Sarah by his side.
“I didn’t know where I wanted to live or what I wanted in a home,” Sarah says. “Scott took the time to take us to many different areas and explain the history of each city.”
As soon as Sarah and John signed the papers on their new home, they went down in history here at KC Homes 365. It’s not every day that a Realtor® has the opportunity to serve four generations of clients. This is an honor that Scott doesn’t take lightly.
“In a world where you’re working for referrals, having the family pass down my name, that’s what any real estate agent should hope for. “I am really honored,” Scott says. “It’s a great feeling knowing that I’ve earned their recommendation.”
And it gets even better knowing that John and Sarah are still feeling nothing but love toward their new home. Sarah’s favorite feature? The backyard pond. An amenity she never knew she needed, but now can’t live without—especially when filled with goldfish and koi.
Soothing, stress-free amenities like the pond and the rain showerhead in the master bath are just what this couple need to balance out their busy lifestyles. Sarah, a professional make-up artist, has the perfect studio set up on the second floor. And many days John, a Branch Manager for Robert Half Management Resources in Overland Park, is able meet his wife for lunch at the best restaurant in town: their own kitchen.
“The kitchen is one of our favorite rooms in the house. We love the gas oven and stove,” John says.
“I’m so glad we went to Scott. This is how buying a house should be.”
Will KC Homes 365 experience the honor of helping a fifth generation Armel with a house hunt? We can’t wait to find out.
In the meantime, find your dream home in Overland park and feel free to share this article with your parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, too.
